Message & Notifications From The Principal
Dear Families and Friends
I hope that you all enjoyed a restful long weekend. Thank you for the generous contributions to our Crazy Hair and Casual Clothes Day on Friday. A total of $647 was raised for the Mini Vinnies, which will go towards assisting local families in need as well as supporting some ‘Mary Mackillop’ inspired projects at our school, including a plaque for our statue of Mary. Well done to Louis Taylor, Mr Luke Roberts and Mr Matthew Absalom who had their heads shaved for this worthy cause. Thank you to Mrs Laura Christopher who demonstrated a steady hand during the hair removal exercise!
COVID-19
As of Monday 8th June, parents and carers will be permitted on school grounds. I would like to thank all families for their patience and understanding during the first six weeks of this term. With this announcement, formal parent or carer/teacher/student conferences will take place early in Term 3. These conferences will provide an opportunity to raise any queries from the Semester 1 report (to be sent home at the end of this term) and establish individual student goals over the remainder of the year.
We will also be permitted to conduct school gatherings (inside or outside) of up to 100 people. This means that our Monday morning assemblies can recommence in the lunch shed. At this stage, our school cross country event on Wednesday 17th June will be for students only and Friday fortnightly assemblies will be postponed until next term.
Welcome
This week we welcome back Miss Megan Walters to our school. Megan is completing a university teaching placement in Year 3 over the remainder of the term. We look forward to benefiting from Megan’s contribution to the class over the coming weeks.
Reports
Semester 1 reports are currently being finalised. I commend all teachers for ensuring detailed, accurate and individual assessments of student’s social and academic progress are being written.
Language Nest
The Language Nest team will continue to support teachers with remote learning activities for the remainder of the term.
Pentecost Sunday
On Sunday we celebrated the birthday of the Church, the time when Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to his disciples. By the power of that Spirit, the Church was born. The apostles, who were timid and frightened, were transformed and became courageous, bold and confident. They went out to the street and fearlessly preached the goodness of the mighty acts of God, as well as forgiving those who have sinned against us.
Thoughts and Prayers
Sr Tina had surgery for a brain tumour last week and we ask that you keep her in your thoughts and prayers. We wish her all the best for a speedy recovery.
Enjoy the rest of your week.

Year 1 News
This term in Science we have been learning about change. We have enjoyed investigating different changes through experiments, watching and looking after our school garden and using iPad-linked Merge hologram cubes (allowing students to “hold” specific objects in their hand) to show us the life cycle of plants and frogs. We have also thought about how we have grown this year and created paintings to show something new we have learned.
We are lucky to have Miss B helping us to learn every day. She guided us through two activities for Reconciliation Week. On Friday we listened to stories about animal tracks and shared stories about the animals we have seen in the bush. We then used glue and sand to create textured footprints.
