Message & Notifications From The Principal

Dear Families and Friends

It is hard to believe that we are past the halfway point of Term 3! We look forward to our school photos this Friday. Please make sure that children are dressed in their full school uniform.

Sacrament of First Holy Communion

We wish Nelly Melpi, Monika Garrity and Charlotte Hogan all the best as they receive the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time this weekend. Mass will be held at St Vincent Pallotti Church on Sunday at 8:30am and all families and friends are most welcome to attend. A big thank you to Sr Julianne Murphy and Fr Joel who have prepared the students for this important event.

New Additions to our school

Thank you to Brock Burston for assembling our new garden shed. It will be a great resource for our budding gardeners, who will now have their tools stored conveniently close to their vegetable gardens.
Thanks also to Toby Stanley who cemented the slab for the shed and assisted in positioning our new speed boat in the playground. A special mention to the team at Revive who generously donated the boat which will provide hours of fun for our students.

Student Leaders
Congratulations to our senior students for demonstrating terrific leadership. A number of our leaders continue to facilitate Bluearth sessions each morning, catering for students from Kindergarten up to Year 6. All students in the Year 5/6 class spend at least one of their recess or lunch breaks each week visiting the Kindergarten/Pre-Primary playground to assist the younger students with their playtime activities.

Father's Day
Following the success of our Father's Day breakfast last year, we are inviting all fathers and special men to join us again next Friday, 4th September, from 7:00am. A delicious breakfast will be provided and our special visitors can then spend some time kicking the footy with their children or visit the classrooms and view the great work that is being produced. Please RSVP to the note or email that was sent to families yesterday by this Friday 28th August, so that Miss Kris can make the necessary catering arrangements. We look forward to welcoming a record number of fathers and special men to this event.

Kindergarten Open Mornings
There will be two public Kindergarten Open Mornings this term:
Wednesday 9th September, 8:30am - 10:30am
Wednesday 23rd September, 8:30am - 10:30am
Families who have a child starting Kindergarten next year are most welcome to visit our school and see our Kindergarten class in action.

School Athletics Day
Students are currently preparing for our Athletics Day on Wednesday 16th September. It will be terrific to see families and friends come along to support the students in what is always a terrific day. Thank you to Mr Zahra and other teachers who have  been working hard to ensure everything runs smoothly on the day.

School Fees
A REMINDER THAT ALL FEES MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY 25 SEPTEMBER UNLESS A PAYMENT PLAN HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE PRINCIPAL
Many of our families have either paid all their fees or are well on their way to having them paid in full by the end of Term 3 - THANK YOU.

Families who have a Health Care Card are asked to present it at the office for the appropriate discount on their tuition fees. If you are experiencing financial hardship, and are not eligible for the card, please make a time to see the Principal to discuss your individual circumstances.
School fees make an important contribution to providing your child with the best possible education.

We prefer card!

In these COVID times we prefer payment by card so that we don’t have to handle cash. There are EFTPOS machines in the office and Canteen. We accept most cards, including the Indue Card.

We will continue to work on reducing our waste and recycling our rubbish this term.

Kindy have been learning about diversity and embracing our uniqueness. Love really makes a difference and we appreciate each other every day by sharing something special about our Kindy friends. Miss Claire has been creating our Diversity Heart with our children. Each time a child demonstrates a caring, sharing, fair attitude towards learning together, a love heart is placed in the centre our class heart. It’s filling fast!

We continue to enjoy our Kindygym sessions, which enhance our strength, courage and determination to develop healthy brains and bodies.

Our targeted literacy time is encouraging our children to develop strong oral language and active listening. We are focusing on phonological awareness, learning how we use sounds in spoken words. Our children take pleasure in applying their learning through structured, play-based activities. It is wonderful to observe the growth and increasing maturity of all our children this year.

Year 5/6 News
The Year 5/6 class has had a busy start to the term, with a camp at Lake Argyle. While on camp, students participated in a range of activities such as designing a hiking stick for our walk to the bluff. Once we got to the top of the bluff we did some charcoal drawings of the view. We went on a sunset cruise of Lake Argyle; the views were beautiful and we saw some amazing animals such as crocodiles and wallaroos. On the last morning of the camp we went canoeing and some of the students “accidently” went swimming! It was a great bonding and team building experience. We would like to give a big thank you to Miss Marcia, Mr Jamie, Miss Judith, Miss Deb and Miss Kris for all their hard work in making camp such and enjoyable experience.
We have just started working on our surprise Father’s Day activities.
We would like to wish Charlotte Hogan and Monika Garrity the best for First Holy Communion this weekend.

Mr Luke Roberts

School Bus

Our Bus is Full!

Many children are catching the St Joseph’s bus (and it’s fabulous to see them all coming to school), but we often have to do three bus runs before and after school. As a result, some children are starting school late or getting home quite late.

To alleviate this problem, please drive your child to school if you have a car and time allows. Or encourage them to safely ride or walk.

Note: This does not apply to the out-of-town or Lakeside buses.

Many thanks.
