2021 Term 3, Week 7
Principal's Piece
Dear Friends and Families
We had a wonderful Stories under the Stars night last week. Thank you to Elle and Marion for co-ordinating the evening and all staff who attended. A big thank you to our guest readers on the night who captivated the students and kept them entertained with their stories. Thank you to the P&F who manned the BBQ and lastly to all the students and families who came along. We hope you enjoyed yourselves and look forward to another Stories under the Stars night next year. Whilst on the topic of Book Week, congratulations to the students and their families who had wonderful costumes for our Book Parade. The creativity and ingenuity in costumes was astounding. We had such a great parade and it was so lovely to celebrate our love of books with the whole school community.
This week we look forward to celebrating all the special men in our students’ lives with our Father’s vs Students Footy Match on Friday at 1pm. We hope to see you there!
This week we host the first of our Kindergarten Open days for students in 2022. Our second open day is scheduled for next Wednesday 8:30 to 10am and if you or anyone you know has a Kindy 2022 student you are most welcome to come along and have a look at our Kindergarten class and meet the staff.
Just a reminder that our Climate survey is now open for parent/carer feedback, please go to www.NSIPartnerships.com.au and enter the code SJKPACS. This is a great opportunity to have your say about St Joseph's, what is working well and what you would like to see happening. The data from this survey is used to inform whole school planning and identify areas for school improvement. There are paper copies of the survey available at the front office if you are unable to complete the survey online. Thanks in advance for your participation.
Have a great week.
Miss Gabby
Principal
God of might, giver of every good gift,
put into our hearts the love of your name,
so that, by deepening our sense of reverence,
you may nurture in us what is good
and by your watchful care,
keep safe what you have nurtured.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
Amen

Don't miss out!
Challenge Class
This term, Challenge Class students are working on individual innovation projects, building and programming Lego Mindstorms EV3 robots. One of their goals is to design something that will help others in our community.
Our challenges with the robot building include accurately following step-by-step building instructions, while finding productive ways to work together as a team - delegating roles and each contributing towards the end goal. As we learn more about coding the robots next term, we will create physical situations for the robots to interact with and redesign them for these specific purposes.
In our individual projects, we are practising research techniques, design concepts, collaboration, critical thinking and questioning skills. We are excited about putting our project proposals together in these final weeks of term and presenting our innovative ideas.
Ms Natalie
Specialist Teacher
Thank you to all for your support towards creating our school video contribution to The Spirit of the Arts Festival in Perth later this month. We recorded multiple groups of students singing Faith in the Future, and are excited to be one of only seven schools that submitted a video, as a way of participating in the festival from a distance. Students really enjoyed the recording studio we set up in the library and were very professional in their approach.
Well done to you all - you were and are amazing!
