2021 Term 3, Week 2
Principal's Piece
Dear Friends and Families
We had a wonderful first assembly of the term last Friday. Year 2 did a wonderful job of sharing their learning and love of dancing with us. This term our assemblies won't be held every second Friday as it is a really busy term so please refer to the parent planner for the schedule for this term.
Due to a death in our school community we are postponing the Athletics carnival scheduled for this Friday, 30th July. We understand that some of our students may be disappointed as we know how hard they have been working to prepare. However, in consultation with the family and school staff we have decided it is not appropriate to continue with the carnival at this stage. We will let you know when a new date has been set. Thank you for your support.
Thank you to everyone who has ensured their canteen accounts are in credit for the start of this term. Your support is much appreciated.
Late last term we upgraded the school website to include the full range of CEWA policies and Executive Directives. These CEWA policies will replace all school-based policies. You can locate these policies under the Compliance & Data heading on our website. Over the next few months we will develop any necessary procedures to reflect our local context, which I will continue to share with the wider school community. For now, I would like to highlight to you an important aspect of the Dispute and Complaint Handling Executive Directive:

“The Director General of the Department of Education is responsible for ensuring that the school observes the registration standards, including the standard about its complaints handling system. Any student, parent or community member is entitled to contact the Director General with concerns about how the school has dealt with a complaint. Information is available on the Department of Education website. While the Director General may consider whether the school has breached the registration standards, she does not have power to intervene in a complaint or override the school’s decision.”
In the last couple of days we have had numerous students come down with a gastro/vomiting bug. If your child is sick please keep them home. The exclusion period from school is 48hrs from their last symptom.
Code of Conduct 12 - You allow students to have a voice in their education, safety and well-being.
Have a great week.

Psalm 25
To you, O Lord, I lift my soul.
Show me your paths and teach me to follow;
Guide me by your truth and instruct me
You keep me safe. You are honest and merciful, and you teach sinners how to follow your path.
You lead humble people to do what is right and to stay on your path.
In everything you do, you are kind and faithful to everyone who keeps our agreement with you.
Our Lord, you are the friend of your worshippers, and you make an agreement with you.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
And to the Holy Spirit;
As it was in the beginning, is now,
And will be forever. Amen.
To you, O Lord, I lift my soul.
You’re Welcome!
Our school gates are often closed for reasons of student safely, but that doesn’t mean you’re not welcome. Just lift the latch at the top of the pedestrian gate and come on in.
From the start of Term 3 the double gates off Coolibah Drive will be padlocked. Please come in through the pedestrian gate on Ironwood Drive.
Update your phone number and emergency contacts
If you change your phone number, please tell us. Please also provide us with any changes to your emergency contacts. We many need to ring you or your emergency contact if your child is sick or doesn’t get picked up after school.
COVID Update - Unwell Children
Students who are unwell should stay home. Parents are asked to seek medical advice if their child exhibits symptoms of COVID-19. Normal processes for advising the school of a child’s absence will apply.

Social Justice Sunday
We celebrate Social Justice Sunday on the 29th of August. The Australian Bishops’ Social Justice Statement, Cry of the Earth, Cry of the Poor, invites us to join in responding to Pope Francis’ invitation to take a seven-year journey towards total ecological sustainability guided by seven Laudato Si’ Goals. The Statement provides theological foundations to ground and inspire our efforts to care for creation while responding to the needs of the disadvantaged and excluded.
