Dear Families and Friends
We had a wonderful Cross Country carnival last Friday. It was great to see so many families and friends there to support their children. We loved seeing our students’ perseverance and encouragement of each other throughout the day. Thanks to Mrs Kehl for co-ordinating the event and to all teachers and parents who helped out.
This week we again welcomed visitors from CEWA Perth and Broome into the school. Our visitors included the Broome Regional Officer, Team Leader Digital Learning, Director for Teaching and Learning, EAL/D Consultant and Learning Equity Project Leader. These visitors provide a great opportunity for Professional Development and also the chance to showcase the wonderful learning happening at St Joseph’s.
During the holidays telecommunications technicians upgraded our technology infrastructure. This was an important first step in CEWA’s digital improvement plan for our school. New cabling has increased our bandwidth and was essential to support new wifi devices throughout the school. This will allow us to cope with greater demand as we get more devices up and running.
This coming weekend we mark Pentecost Sunday which is known as the birthday of the Church. The word Pentecost is Greek and it means "50th day." Fifty days after Easter Sunday, we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and their followers, and the beginning of their Earthly ministry to make disciples of all nations. At Pentecost, the Apostles and their followers were gathered in a room. Jews from all over the world were gathered with Peter, the leader of the Apostles and the Eleven. At this time, a great wind blew and a flame appeared as a tongue of fire, which split itself into many individual flames above the heads of all those present. The Holy Spirit came upon these people and each began to speak in tongues. Despite the fact many had no common language, they were perfectly able to understand one another. We share this story with our students and look forward to the opportunity to come together as a parish community on the weekend to celebrate mass.
Code of Conduct Statement 4 - “You conduct yourself in accordance with laws, agreements, policies and standards relevant to your relationship with the school community.”
Enjoy the rest of your week!
