From all the staff at St Joseph's School, we wish you a safe and happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year
Principal's Piece
Dear Friends and Families
It is hard to believe it is the end of the year! We have all enjoyed the last few weeks celebrating the achievements of our students at our End of Year Award Assembly, Year 6 Graduation and the Christmas Concert. The Concert was a wonderful culmination of weeks of hard work and rehearsals. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did. Thank you to Miss Natalie who co-ordinated the Concert with the support of Mr Shaun and to all the staff who helped prepare students and made costumes. Thanks to the parents for their assistance with prop making. And lastly thank you to our wonderful students who tried their best all term to learn their lines, dances and songs and performed with such enthusiasm and confidence. You should all be very proud of yourself!
We started the week celebrating our Year 6 Graduates, Tileyah, Joy, Nelly, Tyler, Jonas, Lincoln, Camille and Zephira. It was great to hear them share their favourite memories and their wishes for our remaining students. Each of them is a wonderful young person and we look forward to watching their journey over the coming years. Thank you to Mr B, Mr Jamie and Sr Julianne for helping to prepare the students and for organising such a lovely send off for them. We also took the opportunity to farewell students leaving at the end of the year as well as Mr B, Miss Harriet and Mr Roberts.
We still have a number of staff vacancies at the school which I will actively try to fill over the Christmas holidays. COVID border restrictions and mandatory vaccinations have significantly impacted our recruitment opportunities, however this is not unique to our school and is a sentiment being echoed across the education sector. Unfortunately this situation means that classroom allocations for next year are still to be finalised. With the support of CEWA I am hopeful that we will be able to recruit the best staff for our school for 2022.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the School Advisory Council for their support throughout 2021, in particular Rowena Alexander (Chairperson) and Brooke Thomas (Secretary) for their time and support in assisting me with a number of projects throughout the year. Thank you to the members of the P&F group who have also supported the students at our school through their fundraising efforts. Thank you to the parents and carers who have actively participated in our school community this year and shared with us their many gifts and talents. Lastly thanks to all our staff who go above and beyond every day to ensure each of our students have the best education possible.
Thank you for making me feel so welcome in my first year as Principal at St Joseph's. I have really enjoyed being part of such a wonderful school community. I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year I look forward to welcoming you all back in 2022!
Miss Gabby
