2021 Term 4, Week 5
Principal's Piece
Dear Friends and Families
This term is definitely flying by as we are already over the halfway mark. Teachers are busy assessing students and collecting data to prepare reports for the end of the year. This provides a great opportunity to look at the growth students have made and celebrate their successes. Each class is also in full Concert preparation mode and we look forward to presenting the Christmas nativity story with our families. This year the Concert may look a little different from previous years as we want the focus to be on the children and the story they are telling. We ask that families and friends come ready to listen, watch and enjoy the show. To this end, we will not be selling food and we ask that you do not bring your own as we believe this will distract from the performance. We will, however, be providing seating for all this year.
Congratulations to Nelly Melpi, who received the sacrament of Confirmation at Mass last Sunday. Nelly represented the school beautifully and we are very proud to continue being a part of her faith journey. Thank you to Sr Julianne for preparing her for this day and to Fr Joel for leading the Mass.
Last week our Year 6 girls visited the Alta-1 campus for an open day. They were given a tour of the school, met with staff and participated in some of their regular activities. There was really positive feedback from the girls, who enjoyed their time there. This Thursday Year 6 students are participating in East Kimberley College’s Transition Day. If you have a student in Year 6 and have not enrolled them in High School for 2022 please feel free to contact our school office for assistance.
As we look forward to 2022 can I please ask those families with a child on a medical plan (eg asthma or anaphylaxis) to book an appointment with the relative health professional to update your child’s Action Plan. It is important they are reviewed and updated each year so that we can provide the best possible response in the event of a medical emergency.
This Thursday at 8am the Year 5/6 class will lead the whole school in a Remembrance Day service. This will take place in the library and all are welcome to join us.
A reminder that we still have no Canteen. Please continue to send your child with recess and lunch. To provide food for children we have to pull staff out of the classrooms, thus disrupting the classroom learning. If any parents are available to volunteer for an hour in the canteen each day this will assist us with the emergency lunches we need to make.
You may remember last term that information came home to parents/families about a survey that was collecting feedback about the school. Unfortunately, we had a really low response from our families and as such have not generated enough data. This survey is a great opportunity for you to have your say about what is working well in the school and what needs improvement. The results from this will be used to inform planning for 2022 and beyond. If you can please complete the survey online by going to: www.NSIPartnerships.com.au and then enter the code SJKPACS. If you would prefer a paper copy to complete they are available from the front office.
Enjoy the rest of your week.

MacqLit
We are very excited with the progress being made in our MacqLit groups between Term 3 and Term 4. Nearly all students have progressed through to the next level in the MacqLit program. We continue to very proud of our students, who have worked hard on improving their reading skills. Moving forward into this term our goal is to keep up the impressive growth rate for all students and have everyone reading with fluency and comprehension every day.

As always if you would like to talk about how your child is progressing in MacqLit, please contact the school and speak to me.
