2021 Term 2, Week 11

Principal's Piece

Dear Friends and Families

We have had a wonderful time celebrating NAIDOC at school this week. Sr Julianne and the Aboriginal Teacher Assistants (ATAs) led us in a beautiful liturgy on Monday which celebrated the theme Heal Country! Our whole school then came together for a lovely sports afternoon led by our Teacher Assistants (TAs). On Tuesday and Wednesday the students rotated through different activities which included a treasure hunt, mural painting and much more. We look forward to our shared lunch on Friday at 12.30pm and our closing ceremony at 1.20pm. Parents and friends are most welcome to join us. School reports will be ready for parents to collect at this event on Friday afternoon.

Today we welcomed students and staff from St Mary Mackillop College in Busselton who are spending the week in the Kimberley. Due to the evolving COVID situation they were unable to travel to the remote Aboriginal Communities as planned. We look forward to them getting to know our school community and helping out with a few jobs around the school.

Code of Conduct 10 - We maintain and build on the community’s trust and confidence in Catholic schools and the Church.

Thank you for all your support over this last term, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a wonderful, relaxing and safe holiday.

Have a great rest-of-the-week!

Miss Gabby

Principal

You’re Welcome!

Our school gates are often closed for reasons of student safely, but that doesn’t mean you’re not welcome. Just lift the latch at the top of the pedestrian gate and come on in.

From the start of Term 3 the double gates off Coolibah Drive will be padlocked. Please come in through the pedestrian gate on Ironwood Drive.

Update your phone number and emergency contacts

If you change your phone number, please tell us. Please also provide us with any changes to your emergency contacts. We many need to ring you or your emergency contact if your child is sick or doesn’t get picked up after school.

COVID Update - Unwell Children

Students who are unwell should stay home. Parents are asked to seek medical advice if their child exhibits symptoms of COVID-19. Normal processes for advising the school of a child’s absence will apply.

Social Justice Sunday

We celebrate Social Justice Sunday on the 29th of August. The Australian Bishops’ Social Justice Statement, Cry of the Earth, Cry of the Poor, invites us to join in responding to Pope Francis’ invitation to take a seven-year journey towards total ecological sustainability guided by seven Laudato Si’ Goals. The Statement provides theological foundations to ground and inspire our efforts to care for creation while responding to the needs of the disadvantaged and excluded.
