2021 Term 1, Week 8
Principal's Piece
Dear Parents and Carers
We had a wonderful Quiz night last Saturday. The energy in the room and the generosity of our participants was just astounding. Our initial count of funds raised for the school is just over $15 000, which is wonderful. Thank you again to all our sponsors for their donations which contributed to making the night a huge success. We look forward to using these funds to upgrade resources throughout every classroom. Thank you also to the P&F for their assistance in the lead up to the event, helping secure donations and setting up for the night. An even bigger thank you to the staff who spent hours preparing for the event and for those who volunteered on the night. Without you the night wouldn’t have happened. We will endeavour to upload photos to our Facebook page over the next week so keep an eye out!
We have two fundraising events this week for Project Compassion. Slime the Teacher and Crazy Hair Day are happening this Friday. Students are encouraged to come to school with a crazy hairdo and donate a gold coin to Project Compassion.
Holy Week will be celebrated at school next week. Each morning we will have a mini liturgy marking the different events of Holy Week. On Thursday in Week 9 (the last day of term) we will focus on Good Friday; all students are encouraged to wear dark clothing to mark this as a day of Sorry time. Then on the first day back to school in Term 2, Tuesday 20th April, students are encouraged to wear bright, coloured clothing to mark the celebration of Easter and Jesus’ resurrection.
I would also like to inform you that the school bus service is undergoing a review and changes will be implemented as of Term 2. The school bus run around town is a huge burden on school resources with a minimum of 5 school staff required on a daily basis to complete these runs. Unfortunately we cannot sustain this, so we will be prioritising student access to the school bus service on a needs basis. More information about these changes will be shared before the end of Term 1.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
Miss Gabby
Principal
Thank you to our wonderful St Patrick's Quiz Night sponsors:
Road Safety
Morning and afternoon school drop-offs and pick ups
We ask parents and carers to take extra care when dropping off and picking up their children from school. During morning drop off time, children should be exiting cars along the kerb side of the road and if this is not possible they should be accompanied by an adult as they leave the vehicle. If you need to park on the opposite side of the road please walk your child across the road to the school gates.
In the afternoon please completely pull into the parking bays before signalling to your child to jump in. Do not ask your child to get into the car whilst you are still on the road.
Before and after school are very busy times with lots of cars and buses driving past, so take care to ensure your children are well supervised. Thank you for your co-operation with this matter.
COVID Update - Unwell Children
Students who are unwell should stay home. Parents are asked to seek medical advice if their child exhibits symptoms of COVID-19. Normal processes for advising the school of a child’s absence will apply.
