2021 Term 1, Week 5

March 3, 2021

Principal's Piece

Dear Parents and Carers

We are officially over the halfway mark for Term 1 and it feels as though we are racing towards the holidays. Year 3 to 6 students had a wonderful start to their swimming program last week and we are looking forward to another successful session this Thursday. Thank you to Bec Exell who is assisting Miss Gehrmann and Mr Jamie with these lessons.

We have another planning meeting for the St Patrick's Quiz Night this Friday 5th March at 2.30pm at school. All parents new and old are welcome to attend and help with preparations. We are also collecting prizes at this time, so if you have a business that is in a position to donate a prize, we will happily accept it! The next School Board meeting is on Monday 8th March at 5pm at the school.

I understand that being unable to attend assemblies during these COVID times must be frustrating, however we are following a CEWA directive to keep all students, staff and their family as safe as we can. We have recorded the last two assemblies and these will be available online in the next couple of days. We will keep parents informed of any changes to the COVID requirements as we are made aware of them.

We will celebrate St Joseph's Feast Day on Friday 19th March, beginning with a liturgy at 11.30am and then moving into rotations with the students participating in activities relevant to St Joseph's life. The liturgy will be held outside in the lunch shed so that parents are able to attend. The students will then split into groups and go off to their different rotations. Outside each classroom there will be a poster displaying the maximum number of adults allowed in each space and we ask that you please be mindful of this before entering a classroom.

The staff have volunteered their time during Sunday mass to run children's liturgy. It would be great to see some of our students attending weekend mass.

The next School Closure Days are in Week 7 on Monday and Tuesday, 15th and 16th March. OSHC will only be available from 2pm on each of these days as staff are required to attend this training.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Road Safety

Morning and afternoon school drop-offs and pick ups

We ask parents and carers to take extra care when dropping off and picking up their children from school. During morning drop off time, children should be exiting cars along the kerb side of the road and if this is not possible they should be accompanied by an adult as they leave the vehicle. If you need to park on the opposite side of the road please walk your child across the road to the school gates.

In the afternoon please completely pull into the parking bays before signalling to your child to jump in. Do not ask your child to get into the car whilst you are still on the road.

Before and after school are very busy times with lots of cars and buses driving past, so take care to ensure your children are well supervised. Thank you for your co-operation with this matter.

COVID Update - Unwell Children

Students who are unwell should stay home. Parents are asked to seek medical advice if their child exhibits symptoms of COVID-19. Normal processes for advising the school of a child’s absence will apply.
