St Joseph's Primary School • April 8, 2020
Message & Notifications From The Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Please find attached correspondence regarding Term Two. Some of the key points include:
• Our school will remain open in Term Two for children whose parents or carers are engaged in an essential service or are required to maintain employment
• Where possible, parents and carers are encouraged to keep their children at home. If parents and carers are planning on sending their children to school, please notify the principal regarding the days they will be attending
• During Term Two, It is important that regular contact is maintained between staff and families via phone calls and emails
• Plans have been established for remote learning to take place up until Week 4 of Term Two, however, preparations are also being made should there be a need for this period of time to be extended
• Families who have outstanding school fees and are encountering financial hardship are encouraged to make contact with the principal.
Online flexible learning packs have been created and will be posted to Seesaw on Wednesday 29th April. Offline flexible learning packs (hard copies of children's work) can be collected from the school on the same day (at a designated collection point outside the school office). If other arrangements need to be made, please contact the school.
Children who continue to attend school will be working on their flexible learning packs created by their teachers.
May we carry the messages of hope and faith - particularly pertinent during the Easter period, over the coming weeks and months.
We hope that you are able to enjoy a restful break with your families and we look forward to working with you next term.
Tim Hogan, Principal

Helping Children Cope Through the COVID-19 Pandemic
This is an uncertain time for everyone, and children may be affected by fear and anxiety. Here are some tips on how to ensure your children are supported:
1. Give your children extra attention and reassurance. Where possible, minimize their exposure to media and social media that may heighten anxiety.
2. Acknowledge your own feelings about the situation and let children know it’s okay to share their own feelings.
3. Include your children in plans and activities around the house.
4. If you don’t see an improvement in four weeks, or if you’re concerned, seek professional help (earlier if needed).
