2021 Term 4, Week 2
Principal's Piece
Dear Friends and Families
Last Friday our staff participated in a Team Teach PD. This was a great opportunity to come together as a staff and refresh our skills and learn some new strategies. The emphasis within the Team Teach framework is that at least 95% of responses should be non-physical. Prediction, prevention, de-escalation, the importance of non-verbal and verbal communication and structured debriefing and repair are a strong focus of this training. It explicitly emphasises that, without exception, all approaches should maintain safety and dignity for all, be gradual and graded, and be reasonable, proportionate and necessary. We look forward to continuing this work over the coming term and into 2022.
Swimming lessons begin this week on Thursday. Please make sure swimming notes have been returned to school. If you are yet to pay $15 for swimming lessons, students will still be able to participate, but please send the money as soon as possible. Remember to pack swimmers, a towel and goggles if your child needs them.
At the end of this week the canteen will be closed until further notice as, unfortunately, we have had no applications for the position of Canteen Manager. I will actively continue to recruit for this position. We apologise in advance for this inconvenience.
Each classroom is stocked with sunscreen for students to apply throughout the day. We recommend you apply sunscreen to your child before sending them to school each day and then they can reapply before recess and lunch.
We look forward to our first assembly for Term 4 this Friday in the library. There will be no class items this term as we will be focusing on Christmas Concert preparations.
Thank you to the Rankin family for their generous donation of mangoes to the school canteen. The students have been enjoying frozen mango cups this week.
Have a great week.
Have a great week.
Miss Gabby
Principal
